It’s been a gray, rainy week here in the Midwest, so it seemed appropriate to have some fun with color. Enter these two cards made using the Retro Arrows die from Paper Smooches. I’ve had this die for awhile, but haven’t had the opportunity or inspiration to use it until this week. The thing I love about these cover-up dies is that you can get multiple cards out of them. My main goal was to get the card on the right, with the multiple colors, taking my inspiration from, of all things, my shower curtain (I know). The card on the left was an added bonus, a “quickie” card.
I ran the die through my Big Kick with the cherry red, blu raspberry, green apple, and white cardstock and then reassembled the white cuts (the border and the background) onto my card base. Then I randomly* added the various color bits for fill, trying not to overwhelm the white space or appear too busy. I stamped a sentiment on the inside from the LJD Terrific Ties stamp set from My Favorite Things; the arrow is from Into the Woods from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the same sentiment & arrow on the inside of the blue and green bonus card using white pigment ink.
I saved all the colorful cuts, and I think I’m going to try composing them alone, without the accompanying background cut. All sorts of possibilities.
*not randomly at all, actually
