I was pretty excited to get my crafty mitts on the You’re Claw-some set from Lawn Fawn when it was released. I have yet to use it as is, however. I keep mashing it up with other Lawn Fawn sets. Some more successful than others. I made this card, filling the claw machine with bananas and a cheeky monkey dangling from the claw. I made another card that did not get shared, filling the claw machine with bones and tennis balls and a slinky weiner dog dangling from the claw. I tried making that a shaker card, but it did not work well. But I will attempt it again! It has not bested me yet!
For this card, I filled the claw machine with Halloween tricks and treats and included a couple of adorably costumed kids (from the new Costume Party set) trying to get that prized unicorn softie.
The claw machine comes filled with teddy bears, so in order to fill it with other things, you have to mask those bears. Pro-tip: It helps to stamp the image on the sticky side of a post-it note, so that you can turn it over and fit it inside the stamp (AFTER you ink it! I cannot tell you how many times I’ve almost inked the stamp with the mask inside. What a mess!). Then, I filled the machine with chocolate bars and candy (treats), toilet paper (tricks), and a couple of other themed items. I stamped the unicorn so that it would be “picked up” by the claw. Will it make it to the chute?? Those kids seem pretty confident!
I also stamped the costumed kids and then colored everything with Copic markers. I die-cut all the images and set them aside while I blended some Oxide Ink in Spiced Marmalade onto a piece of card stock that I die-cut with a stitched rectangle (4×5.25″). Then I adhered the pieces to the card base, popping up the kids with some foam tape. Oh, I also stamped, colored, and die-cut an extra chocolate bar (guys, I’m low-carbing it these days, can you tell? I’m obsessed with chocolate!) and a pumpkin treat bag (bucket?). I took a craft knife and cut a slit around our unicorn’s hand and at the top of the dispenser so that I could slide in the bucket and candy bar, respectively. Finally, I stamped a sentiment and added a few black enamel dots.
And there you have it – a super fun mashup of two awesome stamp sets! Thanks for joining me today and have a great week!
