I’ve been feeling the need to revisit some of my old stamp sets, first with the I Knead You set from the last card I shared, and now with the Fall Florals set from My Favorite Things. It looks like this set is retired, sadly. I almost threw it into my destash pile because I haven’t used it much and I need to make room in both my stash and my wallet, but I think I might hang on to it a bit longer.
So let’s get down to business. This set is a solid image set, but I didn’t want the color to be flat. So I stamped the two images I chose from the set using Distress Ink in antique linen onto kraft card stock, as if I were going to no-line color. Which is basically what I did.
I got out my Prismacolor Premier colored pencils. These are my go-to pencils, not only because they’re the only pencils I own, but also because the blend like buttah. And guess what, I actually made a color swatch, so you can follow along at home.
I didn’t really follow the same order when laying the colors down from flower to flower (are those flowers? are they berries? I have no idea. Let’s call them flowers). Sometimes I started with the lightest shade, sometimes I started with the darkest. The colorless blending pencil really made the colors melt together.
Then I grabbed the Thanks die-cut from My Favorite Things and carefully and apprehensively die-cut right in the middle of my carefully colored flowers. I also cut two more Thanks from some scrap white card stock. so I could pop that sentiment up. Make it..stand out. Sorry. Not really.
I am entering this into the My Favorite Things 2017 Card Design Superstar contest, coloring virtuoso division.
Thanks so much for joining me and see you next time!
So beautiful! Amazing coloring!
