The WCMC9 challenge was to use your first Concord & 9th set – according to my “records”, mine were Flourish and Wildflowers. So for this card I used Flourish. And the palette for Color Throwdown is one of my favorite combinations – aqua and orange! So let’s get to it!
I wanted to do a subtle background with some spotlight stamping, so I took a piece of white cardstock trimmed to A2 size and stamped the various pieces of the Flourish set in Grout Gray ink (MFT). Then I used a smaller rectangle die and cut out the center (well, just off center), and then trimmed that piece down a smidge so I could put some persimmon cardstock (Papersource) behind it. Then I continued to stamp the branches and flowers on the rest of the background card panel in Grout Gray. Then for the spotlight portion, I used Melon Berry and Hawaiian Shores inks (PTI) to stamp the detail portions of the flowers. I used Cement Gray (MFT) to add details to the monochrome gray background.
Then I used a bit of foam tape when assembling the panel onto my card base to pop up the spotlighted portion. I stamped the sentiment in black and added a few enamel dots (which look a bit more green than I intended, but oh well) and called it done. I don’t know, I keep thinking it needs something else. What do you think, would you add anything? If I wasn’t working with a specific color palette, I’d probably add green to the leaves in the spotlight panel.
Anyway, I hope you like my take on the challenges. Thanks so much for stopping by!
