Hello! The card I have to share with you today is a little frilly, a little shiny, a little soft, and a lot of fun. I used the Just Because bundle from Concord & 9th along with some “traditional” and less traditional watercolors. I picked out some colors that I really liked from the soft, romantic palette from the inspiration photo for the current Inspired by All the Little Things challenge (see the end on this post for a photo and link). I also liked the floral aspect and layers in the photo. I decided to pair this with the sketch from the latest Freshly Made Sketches challenge, because apparently I’m all about sketches lately! 🙂
I started off smooshing some watered down turquoise and green watercolor onto some scrap watercolor paper. Once it was dry, I die cut a few “greenery” pieces using the coordinating dies from the Just Because bundle. I repeated this process using Distress Oxide inks (Candied Apple and Worn Lipstick) and the flower. On a separate piece of watercolor paper, trimmed down to A2 size, I applied a wash using a less diluted turquoise. When that was very dry (like, the next day dry), I stamped and embossed one of the greenery stamps over the blue, just for a hint of shine. I also diecut a frame from scrap white cardstock, as well as the sentiments. “Just” was cut from the left over pink, and “because” was pressed into some Versamark and gold embossing powder and then heat embossed.
I adhered the watercolor wash panel onto a top folding card base of the same size and then glued all the little pieces into place. I added a few enamel dots to finish it off.
I am entering this card into the following challenges:
Inspired by All the Little Things #80, Freshly Made Sketches #325, and Where Creativity Meets C9 #18.
I hope you enjoyed this card! And thanks so much for stopping by!
Update:
My card was chosen as an Honorable Mention in the WCMC9 Watercolor challenge and was chosen as a Princess for the FMS challenge. It was also chosen as an Inspiring Standout for the Inspired by challenge. Thank you all so much for the kind comments!
