When I was a kid living outside of Buffalo, NY, we had an in-ground pool, and every summer, my dad had a “game” with a local frog. He’d go out to the pool, find the frog swimming around, scoop him out and throw him over the fence. The next day, the frog would be back, swimming around, and then flying through the air. All summer long. The card I have to share with you today toadally reminds me of that frog. We called him Kermit. We were not very creative with frog names back then.
Anyway, I used the Toadally set (affiliate link used) from Waffle Flower to make this card. I almost didn’t get this set, but I’m really glad I talked myself into it (like that was in any way a challenge).
This card involved two of my favorite things: masking and lots of Copic coloring. I started off by stamping the images with Extreme Black hybrid ink from My Favorite Things. I masked the trio of frogs so I could stamp some pond plant life and water ripples around them. I used just about every green Copic marker I own to color the frogs, lilly pads, and grass – some light yellow greens all the way to dark olive greens. Before I added the blades of grass, I sketched out a pond and colored it in with BG000, BG10, and BG13 – BG18. I also colored in the sky at this point, using primarily BG000 with a little C0 and C1 to shade the clouds. I added the grass after that so as to stand out against the water in the foreground and the sky in the background.
Don’t these little guys just make you hoppy? I mean, happy?
