You guys, I can’t get enough of coloring precious little bun buns. And so today I am sharing a card I made for the MFT sketch challenge #375 and color challenge #89 (taking a little liberty with the color scheme).
Here is my take on both challenges:
I used the brand new Bubble over with Joy stamps and dies (affiliate links used) from My Favorite Things to make this adorable little scene. I stamped the bun bun with grout gray ink onto kraft card stock and colored her with Polychromos colored pencils. The kraft color gave me a good bun bun baseline so that I could focus my pencil work on getting the texture of her fur. Pencils like Polychromos and Prismacolor are like magic on kraft and dark card stock. I just love the effect.
Anyway, I used a small stitched rectangle die to create the center panel out of some light blue card stock and then used the Mini Cloud stencil and Broken China Distress Oxide ink to add some clouds. A white pencil created some subtle highlighting; a white gel pen added less subtle highlighting. Then I blended in some green ink for the grass and penciled in individual blades of grass.
Now for the tricky part: bubbles. I wanted to added large bubbles for the supplemental design elements in the sketch. I watched a few videos on how to draw and color bubbles and let me tell you, they make it look SO easy. It is not easy. Something to practice. The white gel pen came to the rescue again to add some “shine”.
That’s it for this card – another fun sketch and color challenge to get those creative juices flowing! Thanks so much for stopping by.
This card was spotted on the MFT Challenge Blog! Thank you so much, MFT!
