I Dig You

Hi friends! Today I have a card to share with you featuring the oldie but so goodie You Gnome Me stamp set from My Favorite Things. This was one of the first sets I ever bought from MFT, and I only used it once or twice. It actually ended up in my destash box. But I rescued it recently after discovering how much I love no-line pencil coloring, and I’m so glad I did!

So this is a one-layer, pretty clean and simple design. I cut down a piece of Neenah Solar White 110lb card stock to 4.25 X 11 and scored it at 5.5 to make an A2 top-folding card. Then I stamped Mr. Gnome in Grout Gray ink and the sentiment in Extreme Black (which has replaced my Black Licorice hybrid ink pad).

For the jacket and hat, I used Polychromos: light cobalt turquoise, cobalt green, cobalt turquoise, and helio turquoise. I blended in a bit of light cadmium red (which is pretty orangey) to deepen my shading on the sleeves and edges of his hat. For his beard, I used a range of warm greys along with white and a graphite pencil, finishing it off with white gel pen (fine point). I used the light and medium “flesh” colors for his skin and some random browns for his pants, belt, and shovel. On his face, I drew in his eyes and brows.

To keep the “scene” CAS, I opted for just a small patch of grass under Mr. Gnome’s feet.

And…that’s about it. I’m not used to stopping there, haha!

I’m playing this in the current CASology challenge: Active (perhaps a loose interpretation).

And that’s it for this card. Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
